Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Pick a color, any color. Now, think about that color and what it means to you. Is it powerful? Energizing? Soothing? Refreshing? Welcoming? Dependable? Color is universally understood and is a critical design element for graphics. In a matter of seconds color can command attention, evoke an emotional response, convey a message, define a space, create an idea, and make a lasting impression. No matter what your message is, there is a color that can help communicate it. So, what do you need to know to make the right color decision? Pine Press Printing!

It’s all about appearances.

Grab Attention with Folds

Friday, August 27th, 2010

The layout presentation of your marketing materials is just as important as your images, verbiage, and color scheme. A unique layout that incorporates folds demands attention and entices the reader to open and read your marketing piece.

Many folded layouts enable you to present your information as a story – the beginning grabs attention (such as a headline or teaser), the middle tells the story, and the ending asks for a call to action (such as visiting your web site). Here are a few ways to tell your story with creative folds:

  • Map your story by folding down a large sheet to a compact size. Every fold opens to reveal new information.
  • Roll fold your information to present your message in stages, a little at a time. As the reader unrolls the sheet, the next spread appears.
  • Open the gate. Create a two-page “gate” that opens to a four-page spread. Not only does this approach allow ample space for attention grabbing introductions on the gate as well as in-depth information inside, it is an organized way to divide multiple products or services onto different panels.
  • Offer a sneak peak of the contents inside by shortening the width of your cover on a bi-fold brochure. For example, use an image on the inside that also sets the tone for the outside.
  • Create an accordion folded brochure and make each section a different width, and consider using the extra width as “tabs” for product names or services.

If you’d like other creative marketing ideas, give us a call today. We’ll help you think outside the box and develop eye-catching marketing materials that get read.

Business Card Labels

It seems that everyone has a business card now days, but what if you don’t have many good opportunities to hand out your cards? Business card labels offer an alternative way to creatively distribute your contact information. When printed on a label, you can easily affix your business card and ensure it won’t get lost or misplaced on product samples, literature, packages, booklets, quotes, envelopes, etc.

If you’re interested in trying business card labels but aren’t sure quite sure how often you would use them, try ordering a small run of 50 to 100 sheets of self-adhesive backed stock using the same template as your conventional business cards. It will be fun to rate your feedback and won’t cost an arm and a leg to see if this creative idea is something you’ll stick with!

Working Outside The Box – January 2010

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Lori, myself and the whole team at Pine Press Printing & Mailing thank you, our loyal customers for a record breaking January!

Working Outside The Box!

Working Outside The Box!

January 2010 brought many rewarding & challenging projects for our crew. On one occasion we opened our shop Saturday night under a special arrangement we have with a Carolina’s based group of competition judges. They start arriving at 7:00 P.M. on Saturday night and must have all their results tallied, copied & bound before leaving our shop and finalizing the competition Sunday morning. Lori brought in Fatz famous food and drinks to comfort our weary travelers. 3 1/2 hours and over 15,000 copies later our last happy judge left the shop. A new Pine Press Printing & Mailing record! In over 23 years of handling this job, this was our largest & quickest ever! Obviously experience has taught us many lessons on handling “special” jobs such as this one. We have also added the latest high speed equipment and invested heavily in training every member of our team. At Pine Press Printing & Mailing 2010 will be the year of ” Working Outside The Box”.

Do you want your newsletter to stand out from the crowd? We do!

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

December 09-1At Pine Press Printing & Mailing we are very diligent about getting our monthly newsletter produced, printed and mailed on a consistent and timely basis. We have learned over the 30 + years that we have been in business that it is not enough just to do a “good job”.  You have to do a “great job” and do it consistently.

In spite of an always busy workload, Lorie Taylor & her graphic design team put together the creative & informative “Business Forum” newsletter we mail you every month.  My wife Lori writes her own column with a personal message as well.  Without exception! Because we know that consistency is key when it comes to reaching you, our loyal patrons and future customers.

Being printers & mailers, we use the “Business Forum” to showcase our capabilities as well as our quality.  Our newsletter is always produced by Marty Funchess and his crew on our state of the art Heidelberg printing press.  Then painstakingly cut, folded & bound to produce the finest piece possible. We insist on sending it flat inside a specially printed envelope. Just to insure it reaches you in perfect condition. It is a labor of love and I hope you enjoy receiving it.

We don’t cut corners on our own work and we wont cut corners on yours.

Why not call us about sitting down with you and your team to discuss showcasing your business with the same care and consistency we do ours?

Not yet receiving our “Business Forum” newsletter?

Pine Press Printing & Mailing Recieves Top 10 Award

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Jan. 13, 2010

Lori Moroz -  president of Pine Press Printing & Mailing of Lexington, SC receives “Top 10 Small Business’s” award in Lexington County for 2010.

At the Lexington County Economic Forum Wednesday night, Lexington’s Top 10 Small Business leaders were honored.

Describing her formula for running a successful small business

Mrs. Moroz said:

First, let me say Thank You! This is quite an honor to be named one of the Top 10 Small Businesses in Lexington County for 2010 and to be a part of this outstanding group of other great small businesses that are being acknowledged this evening.

Jerry Bellune has asked that we give two minutes on why we think our companies are successful. So I looked up what success means according to Wikipedia. It gives us a few definitions which include: the achievement of one’s aim or goals, financial profitability, and the opposite of failure. I specifically like the definition, the opposite of failure. Although there may be several failures on the way to success, you can only achieve success by not giving up and a determination to keep reaching for your goals. 2009 for Pine Press Printing and probably several small businesses was a very tough year – a year of tightening up the belt, leaning up the company and worker even harder to reach for these goals.

At Pine Press Printing, we may not have meet every goal this past year, but our determination to keep reaching will be our continued success in 2010. The only way a small business can be successful is to have a team – a great team that is committed and working towards the same goal.

I have that team (Melony Stuckey, Tina Phillips, Cretia Beasley, Lorie Taylor, Marty Funchess, April Amick-Sexton, Nathan Harmon, Doris New & Courtney Taylor). These are the people that make Pine Press Printing & Mailing successful. They are the reason that we survived and thrived in 2009 and they will be the reason we continue to be successful in 2010. We have built our reputation and integrity on superb customer service that goes beyond what is expected, doing what we say we are going to do, along with building relationships with our clients and our community. We believe in giving back. I don’t think that true Success can ever be enjoyed without giving back, whether it is to your church, your family, your schools, or your community.

Again, Thank You, I am humbled to be a part of this group of top 10 small businesses and proud to have a team that supports me and this community.
